Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Industrial and Product Design
Minors: Computer Science, Psychology, Liberal Arts
Hello! My name is Mason and I am currently a Mechanical Engineer at GE. I've recently graduated from Purdue University and I am focused in the fields of human-centered design, human factors engineering, and both qualitative and quantitative methods of research. I am interested in the many facets of industrial design practices, industrial engineering practices, and human-machine systems and methodology. I have always had a passion for art and expressing my ideas through multidimensional visualization. I am a founder and former vice president of Alpha Theta Delta - Gamma Chapter, a professional fraternity focused on multidisciplinary design I am a member of various academic organizations where I learn and apply many different cross-channel design and interdisciplinary engineering skills to sociotechnical systems, contemporary problems, and personalized experiences.
Learn more about me : )
I was born and raised in the countryside of Albany, Indiana with my sister Gabrielle. Growing up rurally, I found beauty and comfort in the outdoors, the scenic landscapes, animals, and mother nature. I am emotionally centered and empathetic, I value family and the close relationships we have. As someone with two grandparents who were esteemed artists, I was interested in and excelled in art during my childhood. I attended Albany Elementary and Delta High School, holding an executive position in every leadership and academic society. My father was a respected Air Force sergeant, holding a ground systems programming position in the First Space Command; he taught me morals and guidance in humility, ambition, determination, and diligence. Academics and sciences are important to me; my father Joseph and his sister Laura are both Purdue University alumni, studying Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. My sister and I grew up close with my cousins Emily and Addison. All four of us carried tradition just as our parents and attended Purdue University at the same time: Emily pursued Statistics, Addison pursued Environmental Geoscience, and Gabrielle Veterinary Medicine. Emily, Addison, and I lived together through our time at Purdue, mirroring our parents Laura and Joseph.

I enjoy being active. Growing up, I played many sports at a high level, including baseball, where I played pitcher and shortstop, football, where I played runningback and cornerback, and basketball, where I played point guard. I played these sports up until middle school, where I started playing tennis. During high school, I played doubles with Michael Curtis, where we obtained All-State honors and became state-ranked, with a UTR of 9. I continued to play tennis in college on the Purdue Club Tennis travel team. Apart from that, I enjoy hiking and camping, skiing and skating, as well as racing and casual gaming.
As an artist, I enjoy sketching and painting. My grandmother Dianna was the most talented painter I know. She could express intense emotion through fluid brush strokes of paint on canvas. She has provided guidance and support in ways I cannot begin to articulate, and I aim to honor her legacy in any way I can. My father's grandfather Paul was an excellent drawer who could perfectly replicate and bring to life images and cartoons. He wrote hundreds of letters with personalized sketches for my father and his siblings. His art was very special to my family, another pillar of my motivation. As a creative, I enjoy writing poems as well. During high school, I have won many awards for my art and writing, including a National Scholastic Art Gold Key for painting and a National Scholastic Writing Gold Key for poetry.
I have an interest in architecture, fashion, automobiles, and traditional art and design. As someone of southern European descent, I enjoy German, French, Swiss, and Italian culture. Romance, Classic and Neoclassic, Renaissance, and many aspects of Roman cultures are some of my favorite influences. One aspect of my academics that I connect with this heritage is French and Italian luxury and design. Aesthetics are an important part of design, and I draw inspiration from these cultures.

MY INVOLVEMENT
At Purdue, I participated in many different organizations to promote personal and academic development. These include the following:
ΑΘΔ - Alpha Theta Delta Fraternity Beta Chapter - Cofounder, Vice President
ATD is the first interdisciplinary design professional fraternity. Founded in 2018 at University of Washington, I helped established and was on the executive board of the third national chapter, behind University of Michigan. Our alpha class has officially rushed, lamented in history.
ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers - Member, Mechanical Engineer
I participated on the sports equipment design team for ASME, where we design and manufactured sports equipment to be donated to local schools. I worked on the pickleball team, contributing CAD, budgeting, integration and testing, etc.
IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers - Member, Programmer
I was a part of a smart mirror programming team, where personalized information was used to provide services for a full length mirror user. I contributed Python, C, HTML, and CSS programming as well as wireframe and screen design.
IISE - Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers - Member
I participated in workshops, industry professional information sessions, and a variety of training sessions aimed towards promoting and improving industry-related skills, including electronics, geometric tolerance, programming, resume workshops, etc.
HFES - Human Factors and Ergonomics Society - Member
I was involved with the small human factors community on Purdue's campus. As a foundation in scientific management, industrial engineering, and human factors, this organization promotes the practice of ergonomics and psychology in engineering.
CEGSAC - Civil Engineering Graduate Student Advisory Council - Member
I participated as an honorary undergraduate member due to my involvement with my structural engineering research as well as athletics. I provided sports, health, and wellness support as well as participated in general meetings and activities related to civil engineering.
AIAA - American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - Member
I participated in various different professional practices related to the world of aerospace. This includes current events, promotion and practice of mathematical and technical skill building, and research- related activities.
BSAC - Bowen Laboratory Student Advisory Council - Member
As a researcher scientist at Bowen Laboratory for large-scale civil engineering, I was involved with the student organization that helped bridge the disconnect between the professional researchers and the on-campus community through Bowen Laboratory.
PXD - Purdue User Experience Design Club -
As a design student, I am involved in the UX design club, which promoted community connection among design practice and social events, including workshops, outings, and guidance for underclassmen.
ΑΛΔ - Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society - Member
I was accepted into a freshman honor society for excellent grades, maintaining a 4.0 gpa my freshman year. This is coupled with the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
ΦΗΣ - Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society - Member
I was accepted into a freshman honor society for excellent grades, maintaining a 4.0 gpa my freshman year. This is coupled with the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
ΣΑΛ - Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor and Leadership Organization - Member
I was accepted and participated in an honor society that promoted community service and grassroots on campus. Some of my volunteer work included working freshman fall orientation, Purdue winterization and services, and community events such as blood drives and balls.
Purdue Club Tennis - Member, Travel Team Member (Executive)
